The European Commission is today launching a call for proposals under the\u00a0Connecting Europe Facility<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF). \u20ac1 billion is available to support the deployment of alternative fuels supply infrastructure for road, maritime, inland waterway and air transport along TEN-T, the\u00a0trans-European transport network<\/a>:\u00a0<\/p>\n

Road network: support for high-power electricity recharging stations and hydrogen refuelling stations, and for megawatt recharging stations for Heavy Duty Vehicles\u00a0Airports: support for electricity and hydrogen supply\u00a0Ports: support for electricity and hydrogen supply, and for the first time for ammonia and methanol bunkering facilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Commissioner for Transport, Adina\u00a0V\u0103lean<\/strong>, said:\u00a0\u201cThe increasing number of applications for the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility confirms the relevance of this funding tool for the European transport sector. The call we open today makes a further \u20ac1 billion available to fund the roll-out of infrastructure for alternative fuels on roads, including for urban city transport, in ports, and at airports across the Union. This can be an important gap bridging for the massive investments needed to deliver a sustainable and accessible electric vehicle infrastructure, and I strongly encourage all Member States, and in particular those in Eastern and Southern Europe, to make use of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

This second phase of AFIF (2024-2025) will support accessible electric recharging points and hydrogen refuelling stations across the European Union\u2019s main transport corridors and hubs. This aligns with the objectives of the new\u00a0Regulation for the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure (AFIR)<\/a>\u00a0regarding publicly available recharging points, as well as those of\u00a0ReFuelEU aviation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0FuelEU maritime<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Applicants can submit their proposals before any of the three cut-off dates: 24 September 2024, 11 June 2025, and 17 December 2025.<\/p>\n\n
