The General Assembly of the European Road Hauliers Association UETR (Union Européenne des Transporteurs Routiers), held on the 9th of September in Barcelona, has appointed Alexis Gibergues, President of French road transport association OTRE (Organisation des Transporteurs Routiers Européens), as the new President of UETR.
Mr. Gibergues succeeds Julio Villaescusa, President of the Spanish federation FENADISMER, who has completed his mandate after leading UETR with commitment and dedication. Under Mr. Villaescusa’s presidency, UETR strengthened its role as the voice of small and medium-sized road haulage companies in Europe.
Accepting his appointment, Alexis Gibergues said: “I am honoured to take on this responsibility at such a crucial time for European road transport. Our industry is facing major challenges in the fields of green and technological transition, workforce, fair competition and harmonisation. I look forward to continuing the excellent work carried out by Julio Villaescusa and to working with all UETR members to ensure that small and medium hauliers remain at the heart of Europe’s economy and mobility”.
UETR members warmly thanked Julio Villaescusa for his outstanding contribution and expressed their full support to Alexis Gibergues in his new role.
The General Assembly reaffirmed UETR’s commitment to work closely with the EU institutions and stakeholders to build a sustainable, innovative and competitive road haulage sector that safeguards the future of SMEs.
