The European Road Hauliers Association (UETR), alongside 45 leading transport associations of Europe, urges EU Member States and the European Commission to uphold and reinforce a dedicated European transport funding instrument in the future EU budget.
Recognizing transport as the backbone of the EU economy, the signatories emphasize the critical need for stable and sufficient funding to support infrastructure, sustainability and innovation in the sector instead of redirecting a large majority of the European transport funding towards National Single Plans.
UETR Secretary General Marco Digioia stated: “A strong and well-funded European transport sector is essential for economic growth, connectivity and the green transition. Maintaining a dedicated EU budget for transport delivers the EU added value and resources necessary to strengthen mobility, boost competitiveness, and drive innovation across the industry. This is the only way to ensuring a resilient and competitive European transport network and sector now and in the future, to the benefit of EU real economy and citizens.”
